The Angels of Light is a community social responsibility and charity initiative of Vine Crest College conceived by the Executive Director, Mrs. F.O. Philips. Powered by the vision to reach out to the needy and less-privileged, especially children and aged within the Iperu community and environs, the Angels of Light will visit hospitals, orphanages, asylums etc with gifts and relief materials bought with the voluntary donations of staff, students and parents during the Easter and Christmas seasons as an expression of the love of God to humanity.
In keeping with the above, the second edition of the Angels of Light was carried out in two phases – community service at the Iperu General Hospital and distribution of gift packs to infants and children at Rufina Hospital, and some old women from the Gospel Faith Mission Church and Methodist Church Iperu.
In the first phase held on the 6th, December, 2019, supplies were presented by the students to the management of Iperu General Hospital after which the team engaged in a sanitation exercise; sweeping and mopping the wards and corridors, and mowing the lawns. The management and staff of the hospital were very happy and grateful for the visit and the students were particularly happy at the opportunity to be of service to their community.
The second phase of the Angels of light was an outreach on Tuesday, 10th December, 2019. The students sang Carols and distributed gift packs containing beverages, provisions and food items to infants and children at Rufina Hospital and also to old women at the Gospel Faith Mission Church in Iperu. They also visited some old women from the Methodist Church Iperu in their homes with gift packs.
